Growing your capacity for a well regulating nervous system requires strong and resilient foundations to be put in place first, together we explore what it looks and feels like to cultivate an experience of safety and resilience in your body.
Nervous System regulation and re-education work is delicate and takes time so we will work at the pace of your nervous system. This allows you to integrate the information and learn the somatic skills gradually and apply them regularly over time.
Processing and integrating trauma happens in a state of safety, being stuck in survival limits the amount of trauma we can actually work through. You can’t talk yourself into feeling safe if your nervous system has already decided it’s in danger.
In this series you will
Gain foundational knowledge of how your nervous system works and an understanding of the physiology of stress, trauma, and survival patterns
Understand the impact of a dysregulated nervous system across all areas of your health
Learn how to recognise body cues to identify if your nervous system is settling or activating
Learn how to stay inside a comfortable window of tolerance in your explorations so you remain connected to an inner sense of safety
Learn simple neurosensory exercises and somatic tools to work with and shift the state of your nervous system over time
Explore body sensations in small amounts without bracing against them or being overwhelmed by them
Have access to a series of educational videos and a guidebook to support and assist you during and after your sessions
Begin to work with the restorative tremor as a regulation tool, so you can continue to support your nervous system once the series is over
At the heart of these practices is the nervous system recovery response, a gentle, vibratory neuromuscular reflex (restorative tremor) in the body which is a natural pathway mammals use to discharge stress – fight or flight signals that have become trapped in the body. By learning how to work with this process in measured doses you can gradually release accumulated levels of stress and rewire your nervous system to experience a healthier, more resilient baseline.
